Born in Denton, Texas and still live in the area.
From a very young age, I have always had an appreciation for the world around me. How light reflects off of objects, creating shapes and the beauty it creates. This inspired me to start drawing the world around me. I can recall doing studies of different animals, trees and architecture. My parents saw this in me and signed me up for multiple art classes outside of grade school. In high school I began working a lot on computers with one of the first versions of Photoshop and Illustrator and a 3-D program, Bryce. I took classes in school around design as well as art and learned a lot of the fundamentals.
I continued my passion for this by getting hired as a graphic designer at a print company during my senior year in high school. After graduating, I moved on to local colleges and then joined the Art Institute of Dallas. There, I learned a lot about typography, design techniques, motion graphics, 3-D design and more
I entered the workforce soon after working for a sign company, Reding Advertising. I worked there for 9 years learning the industry and how to make designs that get attention and the message across quickly. In that industry, people only see your work for a brief moment when passing by, so the designs are critical in conveying a message in a short moment.
Throughout this time I was also creating artwork contracted by individuals wanting to capture their best moments and memories in a fine art paintings. I have done multiple works in oil and watercolor. A lot of these can be found in the portfolio page. I continue painting when I can, it will always be a passion of mine.
During this time I was starting a family and had my first child. I now have 2 beautiful daughters. Given this, I needed to pursue a career which provided support for my new role as a father and provider.
I then was given an opportunity at the University of North Texas in an administrative role in the Linguistics department. With all of my advertising background and the small size of the department, it became one of my responsibilities to create advertisements and social media posts to boost viewership of the department. I gladly volunteered these duties and enjoyed the opportunity.
I have since moved on from UNT and am back in the sign business working as a graphic designer.
I see myself being a lifetime artist and will never stop creating designs and works of fine art.
